It's no secret, I'm a HUGE animal lover.

I used to convince my mom to take me down the street to the Humane Society. I would beg and plead to take home at least one kitty and one dog. I want to give all the animals a forever home. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any of them home. I would leave the Animal Humane Society crying my eyes out and my mom reassuring me they would find homes. I just wanted to help and I couldn't.

To this day, I wish I could help every single one. Big or small. Furry or furless. Old or young.

Both of my dogs are rescues and I couldn't imagine my life without them.

They're what I look forward to at the end of a day. I know that no matter what kind of day I've had, they'll always be SUPER excited to see me. They've been there with me on my sunniest days and my darkest hours - Ready to give their love.

I've been working on a print over the last while using a saying that makes/made me nearly burst into tears the few times I've come across it.

Not only turn it into a print, but something to go toward animals in need. I might not have a ton of money or resources or time to donate but I do what I can.

All proceeds from these prints will go to a rescue organization or an animal in need.

Head injuries can happen to anyone. Preventing them can be as easy as strapping a helmet to your dome. My number one fear when riding is that I'm going to go off something wrong and hit my head and not wake up. I couldn't imagine a life where I couldn't shred.

I'm not going to lie. It's a little weird to see your younger cousins falling in love and getting married.

Well, let me explain.
To start, there is at least a 4 year age difference between me and my cousins. When we were all younger, most of us living in Minnesota or Wisconsin. I'm talking when we were early double digits and below with my younger cousins. Our family used to spend time together at the family cabin in the summer. Then families moved and we didn't see each other as much. Most of my memories of them are when they were still in the single digits.
So, you can see how associating marriage with elementary school age kids is a little tough.
Earlier this summer, Adam, 4 years younger, got married. And now, Danae, 8 years younger, and her husband got married this past weekend.
I had the honor of designing and printing their wedding invite and RSVP.
From what I hear, they're a bit hit. Thanks Danae and Dylan for letting me be apart of your special and wonderful day. May you have a lifetime of love and happiness together.

Meet Matt Fleming.
Matt is an amazing artist. He's originally from the Midwest, now based out of San Francisco.
I had the pleasure of meeting Matt a while back when we were both in ARTCRANK SFO it's inaugural year.
I was completely WOWed by his work then, just as I am today. Not to mention, he's a super nice guy.

His poster from this years ARTCRANK SFO this year caught the eye of many including ScoutMob. They, ScoutMob, recently featured Matt and his work. (which I find pretty darn cool.)

Helping Baxter

Who is this handsome ham, you may ask?

This is Baxter!
He's a pretty amazing little guy.
Baxter and his brother, Alvin, have been a big part of helping foster dogs get by until their forever homes. He belongs to fellow cyclists, animal lovers and rescuers Anitra and Bryan. Anitra has poured her heart into a local rescue group called Secondhand Hounds.

You may ask, "Why is Baxter being featured?"

Baxter was recently diagnosed with cancer at the age of 4 and a half.

His original prognosis wasn't good - just a month if his loving family didn't start treatment. Cancer treatment isn't cheap! Something in life are just worth it, like our furry children. He's currently being treated at the University of Minnesota Vet. Medical Center.

To help out - I'm donating the proceeds from my ARTCRANK 2011 MSP poster "Along for the Ride" to Baxter's treatment and recovery.
If all of the remaining posters sell, it's around $800 to help Baxter.

Chasing the Elephant

I come across people here and there that inspire me to be a better artist.
One of which is Jeremy Fish.
This guys is pretty amazing. The more stuff I have found about him and his work the more I'm impressed.

He was recently featured in the Absolut Blank ad/art campaign with one of my hometown favorites, Aesthetic Appartatus. The Absolut bottle he created is to say the least detailed and amazing.
All of his work has extreme attention to detail. Some might say he has a small obsession with skulls but the way he works them into his art are down right cool.
Who would think two fish and a squid would make a skull.
His art speaks.
His installations are compelling. They aren't just his art that you go and stare at and say, "oh that's neat!"
They tell stories. Ghost of The Barbary Coast is one of my favorites of his installations. The show took place in 2008 in San Francisco. It's based around the history of the neighborhoods, bars, people, etc. One of my favorite piece from that show is the Phoenix. If you don't know much about San Fran, it burned down after a huge earthquake in 1906. That and the bear. In the interview below, he tells more of the story.

Maybe this is one of my favorites cause I lived not too far from that city with the Golden Gate.
Or maybe it's cause what he has to say in the interview is true.
People run to California with the spirit of adventure and big dreams. Heck, I did! I still have those big dreams. They're just being lived out in Minneapolis instead. I still threaten Thomas all the time that I'm going to move back to Tahoe. Although the likely hood of that happening soon, not gunna happen.
Maybe one day, a girls gotta dream.

I can't forget to mention the installation he just finished, Listen and Learn.

And, after taking a quick look at one of his blog posts, I discovered he did the print for a Upper Playground / Chrome bag that I only wish I owned. (The one with the owls!)

You can just ask a few of my friends.
Yes, we are watching for the sprints, the climbs, and the carnage that has come with the TDF.
But as Ms. Minx notes, we have alterior motives.
She tells it like it is. The things we ladies all think about but just giggle and blush when thinking.
I can tell you once thing Ms. Minx makes me laugh with her commentary.

Ah it's day 14 and I haven't posted a single thing on my blog.
As a fellow designer, @welldunn, once said, "I draw everyday. Blogging on the other hand requires more work."

I'm in the process of working on many somethings. One specifically, I feel completely defeated by.
I hate having an amazing idea in my head that I seriously can't put down on paper.
It's BEYOND FRUSTRATING! My hands and brain just don't seem to communicate very well at the moment.

I often peruse other blogs and sites. I am not going to lie, I find other people's lives interesting and what they find interesting - interesting. Isn't this why we all blog and look at each other's sites? We find each other interesting or creative or what have you.

I rarely post things that I find fun or pictures I take, just mainly my designs. I don't write much because I have a tendency to ramble and have run-on sentences. And I feel I write in a very conversational tone.

Operation: Save Baby Bird.

This past week has been rather interesting. A few ups and downs to say the least. Among the highlights, I rescued a baby bird.
The side of our house is covered in ivy and a bit of an aviary. Last Thursday, thunderstorms rolled through and must have shaken loose a bird's nest from the ivy. One little bird held on through the fall and the rainy night.
The long and short of the story, the little bird was taken to the Wildlife Rescue Center in Roseville. (Thanks Aunt Bev for driving me and the birdie!)
The rescue center wasn't sure if it would make it. The birdie was really cold, most likely dehydrated and hungry.
I received an email from them today saying that the little guy is in the avian nursery with other little American Robins of the same age and doing well.
Warms my heart!

Yes, it was a month ago! But, this is the invite that ended up going out for Caden's birthday party!
It was a blast! They rented a big bounce inflatable thing that big kids, like me, could bounce in too. Even though it was rainy and cold, my nephew didn't come out of that thing for the entire party except to open presents and eat cake. He still didn't want to do either one of those two things cause bouncing was WAY more important.
P.S. He LOVES cars.

During the birthday weekend, we ran off to Northeast to Psycho Suzi's for some delicious tiki beverages. Every month they feature a different drink and it comes in a not-so-standard tiki or so it seems to their usual line up. I've drank out of a Panda, a Fish's head, a Geisha just to name a few. Now, I can add a monkey, a "see-no" monkey to be exact. And I adopted it! It was my birthday, so it felt in order. My monkey tiki mug now sits next to my pirate tiki mug. I intend to continue my collection.

One, Two, 27!

ONE YEAR!!!
It's been one year since my first post. Odd, I know. But it seems like something to mention.
Not only that, but yesterday I turned a year older. Year older and wiser...or something like that. I have spent the past few days romping around Minneapolis with my birthday surprise. And what that might be you ask? My boyfriend and best friend collaborated to fly her in for a few days. AWESOME! A variety of shenanigans have ensued and I'm still alive.
On forward! Another year and it's hard to believe how quickly it has flown by! It only seems right that I continue where it started. My nephew! Well, his birthday announcement. He's turning the big 2! There couldn't be a cooler kid on the planet and he has a mullet! So here is to One, Two and 27. You can figure it out!

A little about the actual announcement/invite - That's my monster! He was inspired by a shower curtain. (There was this line that made me think of a monster.) Most of the "2/two"s in the background are done by hand. The main font is Duality.

I still have my umbrella from when I was little. My mom saved it for me to have when I was older. Now, it is more of a decoration that anything.

Originally, I started this blog to feature my current work. A place where people could go to see what I do, what my style is, etc. Now that I am developing my site, www.meganrademacher.com. I want to use my blog as a what is running through my head, what I am inspired by and so forth. I have been finding that people journey's are way more interesting that just their work. I like looking at all the pretty pictures but I often find myself completely engrossed in the story behind their work as well. So hopefully, you will enjoy my journey and join me on my trip of my imagination, thoughts, doodles, work and what have you.

Everyday, I stare at the letter "M." I can't tell you how hard it is for me to create a "M" that I am excited about. I think as a designer the hardest letterform you ever have to design is the first letter of your first name. However, I can find "M"s that others write or create that I LOVE! Such is the letterform I found on an envelope my boyfriend gave to me. So I messed with it and made it something even more special. Here it is.

Back from SFO

The trip was a amazing. The show was GREAT! I am so stoked to have been apart of ARTCRANK SFO. The Chrome Store was such a great venue to hold the show, and the people from Chrome were so great with everything. Check out some photos from the show on the Chrome site or HERE. Part of the proceeds from the posters went to Bikes to Rwanda. I could only figure out one of the other artist at the show, Matt Flemming of Black T-shirt. He's rad! So check out his stuff, its neat! Also, brought home some of the posters from the show. I'll be posting pictures soon. Just putting out there a BIG THANK YOU to Charles Youel and his team for putting on ARTCRANK SFO.

We got back from San Fran Monday at about 7 am. Wow what a flight of interesting events and people. The flight was over booked and people were NOT happy. We almost got vouchers for $600 in flights and food and a hotel but unfortunately, no go.

ANYWAY!

While I was off and away, the illo friday topic was FAST so I was inspired to create something for my friend Antonia. It's still in the works so no images yet of it.

Here's a halloween doodle that did. Going to turn it into something else and maybe revamp it a bit but I like it! (holy run on sentance!)

Starting to feel like fall already, made me think of snow.

This past winter I got a chance to work with a good friend of mine to create his dream of his own ski company, Kenton. I felt honored that he came to me for the graphics. You can check out his process of making his own ski at Ski Builders.com.

Another addition from the back in the day but it was a project that I loved working on. Snowbowl is the resort in Flagstaff, AZ that I worked for and played at for part of my college career. Dave Smith, the Director of Sales and Marketing, asked me if I would like to help out with their ad campaign for the 05/06 Season.
